Payment routes include crypto wallets, Stripe, or platform credits; funds sit in escrow until both parties confirm completion with photographic proof. Over 5,500 bounties have been closed successfully so far.

Where the idea came from — founders and tech

Alexander Liteplo, 26, a crypto engineer at UMA Protocol who lived in Argentina, and Patricia Tani, an ex-art student turned coder, built the site. Liteplo described a lightbulb moment after OpenClaw’s release in November: humanoid robots will be many by 2035, but right now most AIs can’t move through the world meaningfully. The very first human hired was Toronto community builder Minjae Kang, who held a sign reading “AN AI PAID ME TO HOLD THIS SIGN (Pride not included.)” He called it strange and noted the encounter forced bystanders to ask questions about AI and labor.

AI agents can post open bounties or search the roster of registered humans. Humans can set their own fees, accept hourly work, or bid on bounties. The platform requires photographic evidence on completion and holds funds in escrow. RentAHuman handles disputes manually for now. What boundaries should platforms set when agents can hire humans? Who says No when a bounty looks suspicious? How do we certify that an AI agent’s operator is reachable and accountable? These are the calibrated questions regulators, founders, and workers must negotiate.
